so I start my truck yesterday and it belched out black smoke from the tailpipe... kind of like a diesel. It was a little disturbing, I haven't noticed it before but I have been smelling fuel from the exhaust for a couple of months. What would be causing this? Major problem or not? Hey, maybe that's why I'm filling up every 3 days AUSSiE ok... I figured out the search function, it was only going back a week prior Running rich. but it is a 88 v6 efi and I don't know what kind of problem i am looking at, injectors leaking - bad ecu -or maf? If your first morning start doesn't kick over right away, chances are that the fuel injectors might be leaking as mentioned.
Also pull your oil dipstick and give it a whiff; if it smells like gas, you've likely found your answer. This is a similar problem for the carbie folks when things start wearing out.
RC engineering and Witchhunter are a couple places where you can send off your injectors to be refurbished.

you know what... that actually makes a lot of sense now. if left over a few hours it actually starts like crap, idles at around 300rpm for a second then gradually goes up to @ 750. If I go into a store for a few minutes it'll start right up like it should. AUSSiE

has anyone in canada sent their injectors out? Where would be a good place in this country? I just don't want to deal with cross border and customs and shipping to the states. thanks AUSSiE
