Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey all I'm usally over at the Isuzu side of this site but the wife as the Jeep with the problem. I'm trying to get the front hub off to get the bearing removed and replaced. I did get the outer nut off with the 36mm size socket I needed but there are three bolts on the back side that I have never seen this type of bolt head. It looks like torx inside out or something. I would like to know what it is and what size so I can get the socket to get the thing off. My plan is to take the hub and have the bear removed and have another one pressed in. Is there anything else I should look for in this process cause I have never been into anything on this vehical yet. Thanks for any information you can give me and sooner the better cause I had to take off work to get this thing on the road again.

Carl

Oh yea It's a '99 Jeep Wrangler with the straight 6 if it matters. Thanks again..........

Body Damage is Cool
I may be wrong but I think it's a 12 point 13mm bolt head. A regular 12 point wrench or socket should fit. the FSM says nothing about a special tool. (I don't have the Jeep but I have the FS Manual for it.) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Yeah I have run into a few of them bolt-heads too. I've always found something that would fit EXACTLY.

Just so all knows, it's a 13mm 12point socket that fit those bolts with plenty of PB Blaster also with some insentive of a 3 pd. sledge. Also every auto parts store in my area didn't have a 12 point just 6, had to go all the way to Sears. Soooo if you come across needing to do this job make sure you have that socket it makes life much easier. It took half and day looking for the socket and 20 min. to get it off once I got it home.
