Getting the Wheeling Fever

so... i just finished rebuilding my head on my 22re motor. got everything put back togeter. and the truck wont start on it's own. it will only start when i spray starting fluid into the intake. fuel does have pressure to the cold start injector (easy one to get to). anyone have any advice on what to try next?
oh one more thing... the check engine light is not on when the truck is on, but it lights up, but very dim, when i turn the key to off.... ???
thanks in advance!!!

is the ecu power wire still attached? I accidentially cut mine when i was putting my harness back in, also the little fuse box on the passanger fender was cracked apart on mine, leading to intermittent contact with the fusable link, and of course intermittent power to the ecu.
