Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am so close to being done with my 1988 Trooper II, but there are a few remaining mysteries. First of all, I seem to have a "spare" wire coming out of the end of the fuel injector wiring harness. Here is a picture Photobucket . I also have a loose ground strap at the back of the engine that needs a home, and I cant find where it wants to go. Despite these things we tried to start it up, and it ran for about 20 seconds, then just died. It ran like it was "missing," but the timing looks good. I took the spark plugs out and cylinders 3 and 4 plugs were black and wet. We are having the injectors tested and cleaned, and our wiring looks good according to the shop manual, but if any of you have experienced this or have any ideas, I just might be able to finally finish this project. Thanks!

Well the plug in the pic looks like the one that goes on the distributor. But it should be in the back.

As for the grounding straps; one mounts on top of the valve cover, one on the back of the head, and one on the transmission/engine. Right in the middle bell housing bolt.

Actually Bob, I have the strap connected to the back of the head already (that is the one in question in my case) but I need to know where it mounts on the body or wherever. And thanks Jlemond, i'll check that plug as soon as I can.

The other end goes to the valve cover...

one of the grounding straps goes from the valve cover to the body. one from the back of the head to the body. and the last goes from the bell housing to the body.
