Hi Guys,

Want to add some extra gauges, oil temp, oil pressure and volt/amp meter.

What should I look out for when buying, brands to stay away from etc! And what is the risk of the extra gauges and their sensors etc! messing with the existing onboard computer etc! ie: will a mechanical oil pressure gauge throw of the existing oil pressure warning light and trip a trouble code?

For my Eclipse I only use Autometer. But I am sure you can locate some on Ebay for much cheaper. Just remember, you get what you pay for. As far as the guages messing with the ECU, it shouldn't if you are only adding a sensor but not disconnecting the old one. On my Eclipse, she has, Boost guage, A/F ratio guage, Exhaust Gas Temperature guage, Oil pressure and water temp guages. All Autometer, Phantom Series. Also, my personal opinion is to stay away from the mechanical guages. I wouldn't want one of the lines to break inside the cab of the vehicle and you either have hot oil or hot anti-freeze spraying around. Just my personal opinion though.

Good luck.

should be fine. as far as the oil guages, good idea to go electric gauges for sure. just need to plumb in the sensors and such.

if you go down to jb's or mopac in the west end, they have all sorts of atuometer gauges. for decent prices.

autometer or nordskog for me. a trans temp gauge is good if you have an auto. also a trans cooler helps quite a bit. in the works is a gauge pod for kias. just havent had time to get to it yet.

I've had excellent luck with autometer, I have all autometer z-series (bottom line of the autometer not auto-gauge) and have had 0 problems with them in my yota and they see alot of vibration and abuse.
