Brake pedal dash lights come on

Just got to work notice when i was get out of the 4runner with everything off i pressed the brake pedal gettin out notice the dash lights and clock come on. With everything off and no key press the brake pedal brake lights come on and dash lights, clock. Any body mite know whats going on so when i get off work i can check it out.

haha thats really funny because my truck started doing that about a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet, but I have the same exact problem. I'm guessing theres a crossed wire somewhere.. let me know if you find the cause.

Sounds like the wire from the stoplight switch is crossed with the dash lights wire. Trace the wire coming from the switch and I'll bet you find a bare spot <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

You have a bad light bulb in the rear of the truck. The STOP filament is probably touching the PARK filament, so when you're on the brake the power travels to the parking lights.

I had the same thing happen to me. like the previous poster said, the glass and the metal of my stop bulb had seperated. when the glass part of the bulb twisted a bit the filament's in the bulb touched back feeding the dash ill lights. easy fix, just replace the problem bulb.

Ditto, my 4runner did the exact same thing. Tried to track down the problem forever, finially just replaced the bulbs in the taillights. Bingo, problem solved.
86 4runner, pro comp AAL, Kayline Soft top, 31's but all stock
