hi ive got an 88 4runner v6 5speed and need to replace the rear end some dumb ass hit me and bent it. curious whether or not a 88 pickup rear end sould bolt up with no problems

Yes it will. Any 84-95 4wd truck or 4Runner (up to '02' 4Runner) rear end will work.

Just make sure the ring and pinion is the same ratio (count the teeth)

so if the 4 banger has the smaller third member and the v6 has the bigger third member will it make a difference

Generally speaking, no. They are interchangeable. The V6 third has larger bearings and pinion gear, and a little different carrier. You would never know the difference if I had not told you.
