Hey Guys, 1990 Montero 3.0L. When I got this rig it had a bad intake gasket. Replaced the gasket, but it is still leaking. Water pools up on the engine block under the intake. Do ya'll think the gasket is still leaking, or could it be the metal line that sits on the block in that same location? That line connects to something at the front of the engine(maybe the back of the water pump) and looks like it ties into part of the haeter circuit at the rear of the engine. Maybe a bad o-ring or something?

Water pump tube rear oring (the one you suspect) or further leak in the lower intake gasket. That one is tricky to seal.

How do I change the o-ring? I tried tugging on the metal line when I changed the gasket the first time, but it seemed stuck pretty good. Does that line just pull out with more force, or is there some trick to getting it out?
Lower intake gasket? Where is that?

To pull that pipe out of the water pump you have to unbolt it from the back of the pass side head.
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

After unbolting the line from the head, does it just "magically" pull out of the water pump? Is the o-ring a dealer part or will one work from the local auto store?

Bolt is kinda hard to reach. Once it is out, the pipe just pulls out. Unless it somehow seized together.... You probably need to get that O ring from the dealer.
Or you could pull the water pump off of the front, more work.
