my automatic wont go into gear wen i push the pedal down my brake lights dont light up. wat could it be?

Do the brakes work when you press on the pedal? I believe there is a slot by the auto shifter that you can insert a key into and then you should be able to move the shifter lever. I have never worked on an auto trans but it sounds like maybe a linkage between the brake pedal and the trans may be jammed. Just a guess....I'm sure someone on the forum can help you.

i think its the stoplight switch. correct me if i am wrong guys. the stoplight switch activates a solenoid that lets you pull the shifter out of park.

but i took it into the dealer cause ther wer a few other problems i dont really have much time to spend on electrical problems right now.
