First let me say hi to all.I'm Lonnie and live in Jax Fl.Got a fair background in 4 wheeling my on 4x4s have been GM.3-72's,2-75's Blazers and my 2000 GMC 3500 cc 4x4 7.4 dually.I had an auto electric shop and sandragged a rearengine rail and my trucks, did good, had fun.Always built and fixed everything I've owned. Now the stupid part.At a family get together my Cuz/05 2500 4x4 4d Dmax and I had drank just enough to challenge each other to "HOOK IT UP" We go to the hard road with a crowd, got end to end and hooked up,i got tight waiting for the signal he had his truck in reverse, and he thought I was pullin him so he gave it a little gas and went faster and thought I was really puttin it on him as he hit the back of my truck at 20mph.Smashed my bumper, tail gate and body on the rr side with his drop hitch.I had stood on the brakes and the force my front tires turn and bend the main steering link(drag link in my day) so he pulls back forward and I'm mad as so I show my and floored it and POP goes my front wheel drive. .They looked like this, and I looked like this and they looked like so the lesson$$$$.I have never even seen a late model transfer apart.I know that both outer axles turn by turning the hub and smooth.I would like to know what shaft is the weak link generaly and if anybody has any tips on repair.I've been in 203'205'transfers but not this one.I appreciate any help.Oh and I know

I broke my trucks front wheel drive and he smashed the back of it too.The 2000 gmc crew cab dually. It is the same body style of a 98 GM.it must have a broke pinion shaft because it drives down the road spinning to front axles with just a little rattle I just can hear.I think if it was broke anywhere else it would get bad quick.I'll have to get a manual on this front end. When I was young I just tore what ever I broke apart and learn fixing it but I need this truck everyday so I need to see what i'm getting into.lol

Need a Spot
Remove the pas. side cv axle. then remove the stub shaft that the cv axle bolts to. I have see the stub shaft snap into on these chev front ends.

Thanks for the info. If I spin the hub it will still turn the axle going in the differential? Thanks Lonnie

I took the cv's apart and put the outer's back in the hubs so I could drive it.It does have something broke on that side.Had to make it get me to and from work.Guess i'll look at it this weekend. How much is a stub axle?No matter I need to fix it.Thanks,I'll post the verdict.
