Getting the Wheeling Fever
Guys---97 Wrangler TJ. The front driveshaft double cardan u-joint has developed a loud squeek...I have removed it, and cleaned the "cup and rubber seal" in the middle of the 2 u-joints---The squeek goes away for a couple of weeks, or until it gets wet or muddy..
I have used a variety of cleaners and different lubricants including white lithium, silicone, and even WD-40.
There is no play in the u-joints, and those move smoothly---just that "cup" in the center...
Any help would be appreciated---Can the double cardan be rebuilt, or do I have to replace the whole driveshaft?
It is off the vehicle now because it gets so loud! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
Any good drive shaft shop can rebuild it, it takes some special tools and know how on a CV.

Never use WD40 as any kind of lube that you expect to last more than a few seconds. WD in WD40 stands for "Water Displacement" and isn't designed as a lube. Grease makes for a great lube.... Just figgerd I'd mention that....
