Just wondering what options there are for fixing the headlight focus issue here in Canada. Phil I know you lucky SWB guys just have to buy some $20 H4s, but what can be done for the LWB molded headlights? The little searching I did turned up not being able to use 1992 Montero units without some serious fabbing. Trying to get all my ducks in a row for the NH LWB I'll eventually be bringing over!
Thanks,
Duncan

My Hella H4's were way more than $20, unfortunately, but the E-code beam is awesome!

As far as 92 headights go, why coudn't you use them? I was under the impression they were identical...

Body Damage is Cool
I have a 1991 LWB pajero and the headlights dont aim out of whack at all...they point a bit to the left but I dont care. I put some super white bulbs in her and its good enough for me. I would like to find out if the 1997-99 montero diamond back headlights fit into my unit though. on Ebay they have some and they look identical but im not 100% sure yet.

Sorry Phil, that was the info I got from MaxOverdrive out here in Richmond (who doesn't want to share where he gets LHD LWB GenII headlights for $200). I've been told by the local JDM enthusiasts here that BC does enforce the LHD headlight issue if you get inspected. It's the main reason that Skyline imports for BC are all but stopped right now: there's no North American equivalent left-right flipped bulbs to use.
Torquemonster, I suspect that TrekkerImports fixed yours pre-sale. The problem is that LHD vehicles have a lower aimed left-beam and a higher-aimed right beam, to avoid blinding oncoming drivers yet still illuminate the shoulder well. If you reverse that like it is on a RHD... well you get the idea. From what I've gathered here on the 'net, the aim is well beyond what you can adjust with the screw-adjusters.

Need a Spot
I agree with Clead, there is no need to buy LHD headlights since RHD and LHD are the same....focusing the beams to the right is all you need to do with the help of a long philips screw driver. You just need to adjust the screws...1 is for up and down and the other 1 is for left and right.

Actually, that's not what he said...

You can reaim your lights, but they still won't be LHD lights - aiming doesn't change the beam pattern. And if BC includes this in their inspection now, then re-aiming won't make em pass anyway. We need to find out if the LHD assembly is for sure the same or not...

Clead, why don't you see if you can convice someone on the diesel forum with a JDM to pull a headlight, and then you can compare to the NA version... I just don't see why MMC would retool headlight/grille/fascia/garnish for another market. Doesn't make good $ sense. 'Course that hasn't stopped em before...
