Hey there, I'm new, I have a 96 trooper and I have a strange problem... I had my alt. changed, and apparently my relay which turns on the batt and brake indicator lams when the alt. is going bad has gone out. Problem is that I don't have a relay box diagram... it's not on the cover anymore, this relay also controls my heater blower / a/c, but I don't know what relay it is <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I was doing some research, and it seems like the trooper uses a 75 amp unit... I am pretty sure they gave me a 60 amp... could this be the issue problem???

this is a classic symptom of a failing alternator on the isuzu. (or a big box cheap 'rebuild' unit even if 'new').
you probably would have gotten more replies about this except your initial post got us sidetracked to relay info. all sorts of weird dash light happenings occur when the alternator starts going bad (even trans problems will surface because of defective alternator).

generally, most will tell you to stick to quality alternator alternatives...in descending order of $, but all should be good
*dealer new
*dealer remanufactured
*remanufactured by bosch (my personal favorite from experience)

avoid:avoid:avoid::cheapo rebuilds from bigbox parts stores. if they say "lifetime warranty" be afraid, be very afraid. it means a lifetime of replacing them.

i love a good intermittent electrical challenge. . .especially when it's someone else's.

Need a Spot
Hi, I have a 94 Trooper, and when my orig alt. went bad when I went to parts store I have been given the right alternator (rebuilt) and had it be bad right after installation. The symptoms are exactly the same as you describe. I could not believe I had to change it out again. I spent a little more and got a better alternator and, knock on wood, over a year now and no problems.
