Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well, my water pump is on the way out and I noticed that the FSM indicates that the radiator is not to be removed.

I was going to pull the radiator just to try and complicated what should be a simple job, but if I can get away without yanking it all the better.

Can the water pump be replaced without pulling the radiator?

Keep in mind that my meathooks are far larger then dainty Japanese hands.

Any other tips and tricks before I tear it apart?

Thanks

Presuming 22Rxx, no, the radiator doesn't need to come out, but should be drained, as once you break the pump loose, it's gonna rain down the front of the engine.

The fan will have to come off; good time to R&R the belt if you need to.

Use ONLY a 1/4" drive to put it back together, so you don't break off your studs; no torque value here.

Pretty straightforward otherwise. Just remember to turn ON your heater, and have the radiator cap off so you can burp all the air out of the system once you service it back up.

Agreed, yes, the radiator does not have to ocme out.

*However* - it's very easy to remove, just 4 10mm bolts, and it has to be drained anyway.
You'll find that not having it there leaves alot more room for those giant meathooks of yours. If it were me, i'd go ahead and do it.

If you have patience and aren't in a hurry, you can leave the rad in even with big hands. It does make it a little tight, but not impossible, you may want to remove the fan shroud if you have one for more room.

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.

I would pull the radiator, just to avoid accidental damage and to give you more room to work. Otherwise, try putting some cardboard over the face to protect it from a wrench slipping or something like that.
