Getting the Wheeling Fever
Mine is bent to, it hops pretty bad at 40-50mph but at 70 it's not to bad with 36's. I've always used the concrete method and I've only had one that was a PIA but it finally came off. You can install with an old piece of exhaust, a 4x4 piece of wood, and a hammer to save some money.

2" exhaust pipe I assume? 1.75" dia 1/8" wall was just a little too small inside to fit over the bearing surface on the axle.

Thanks, Ill definatly give that a whirl before having someone with a press do it!

I really don't remember I've got all kinds in the shop from past projects I just started grabbing pieces untill one worked. A friend of mine showed me this trick years ago and when he slammed my axle down on the concrete I almost lost it until I looked at the shaft and it didn't have a scratch. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> I've heard people say they spent $200 per axle but I don't know if they pulled them or supplied the bearing or what but mine cost $50 per axle out the door. Good luck.

It worked great to slam the axles against the top of a curb to get the backing plates and bearings off! I was stumped as to what to use to get the bearing back on and was looking around Menards and found that 1.5" galvinized pipe is actually 1.62" ID and the shaft is 1.57" OD. Got a coupler to put on one end so there's a nice blunt piece against the bearing retainer ring and then a cap for the other end to have somthing good to beat on with a hammer. It should work great and is the perfect size to use! Ill post up how it went when i get to it.

Glad you got it fixed. It's nice when you do something so simple and get it fixed and everybody else made it so complicated. I'm from the south and it used to be called Yankee engineering, now they call it something else. Who cares it works and it's cheap.
