It's Prob close, BUT you have to remember... live axles are 100% unsprung weight. It's irrelevant really.

I know Isuzu has some independent shops that support them. They could possibly have some kits that would adapt to ours very closely I would imagine. The Trooper is VERY similar to the Montero, through out all the Generations. I'm interested in hearing more about the Nissan kits too.

And what about Dodge Ram axles?

How is the ride? Driving my dads Ram1500 with a solid front axle always feels a little more unforgiving on the bumps. Definitely not a deal breaker being that the Raider isn't my DD anymore.

So, the Wagoneer axle is the best JY option? Also, did any models have a matching gear ratio for our trucks? Or do are they all going to have to be swapped to match?

They'll work just fine. You'll just have the tires completely outside the fender wells.

Dodge ram axles have CAD 4wd crap to mess with IIRC And you never see someone swapping them in so something must suck about them...I just haven't looked into it. (EDIT: I'm talking about mid90s trucks, older ones are good)

Troopers are passenger drop so they aren't that close, but if you could get a isuzu SAS kit to fit a waggy axle than that would be great.

I looked last night into the nissan kits for a few minutes, the only one I saw was a bolt on kit and almost all of it would be useless for a montero IMO.

I think the biggest factors is the fab work, finding an axle, time, and $$...
I was going to swap but since its my daily driver I couldn't find the time.

Are there many peope that have a GEN II SAS?? just trying to think of it, I don't recall reading anything or seeing any pictures on here. By the way it seems I will have my pajero for all eternity, so once it isn't my daily driver I'd tackle a project like that. A lot of nissan guys down here have SAS'd thier trucks using waggy axles, and i've looked them over a bit. What i meant when i said the nissan kit would work was it uses the driver drop waggy axle and it has all the mounts and linkages you'd need, i didn't mean it would just slap right on. You'd likely have to make a crossmember or two but that's kid stuff.

If I made a weld on SAS kit for waggy axles, would people buy it?

Hell.. I will just make measurements, to where my sprng eye's are now, and make you a template out of posterboard, and you can get some steel, and make it socket up on the frame, and bolt to existing holes, to make it bolt on up front, and maybe just weld the rears.

What do you think toasty?

Bolt on crossmember up front to existing frame holes, Bolt on shock mounts....drill your own holes, and bolt on rear spring mounts? drill you own holes??

Or locate it with existing holes, and weld it in???

This would take out the fab work, and just require basic welding skills.

I'd guess it'd cost 5-6-700 bux. You'd still have to buy a driveshaft, steering linkages, axle, springs, etc.
