I was told that this part was the proportioning valve for the rear brakes which I think are the wheels with abs. I wish there was a 1996 Sportage in a pick-n-pull around here but the closest I could find was a 1998 which I don't think has the same valve. This is my only car right now so I don't know when I could take it apart and see if I could fix it.
