Depending on your climate, I would consider sealing the splices in some way. My SWB came from RI and was used to trailer a boat. Those splice connectors didn't keep out the elements and the wires were corroded and actually starting to fail and short after I had the rig for a short while. The 3M self-sealing tape is a great product...
