well I was get ready to put the raider on a trailer and head up north. the starter has been sounding a little loud and a vibration some place from 2000 - 2500 rpm. always been like this but getting a little worse. anyway went to start it and heard a bang, started up and the vibration was worse. turned it off looked around and all looked ok. stater was tight so tried to start it again and did not want to start but did on the 2nd try. vibration a little worse put it in gear and thing got loud put it in park and things got quiet. back in gear and nothing. no forward or reverse. linkage is ok. and when I start it now the vibration is gone for the most part. wonder if I trashed the fly wheele/ torque converter?

I'm going to look at the manual now and the jack it up and pull the inspection cover on the bell housing... if I have to pull the trans/and transfer case do you all pull the motor or just the trans.

any thoughts would be great.

Mark

when you tried to start and it did not want to, what exactly happened? did the starter turn but not the engine?

took the inspection cover off and the flywheel is loose,as is the adapter between the crank and flywheel. I will probably pull the motor and check it out.

any one have a flywheel for sale. or a stock exhaust manifold for a 2.6? I don't like the power band with the header.

this is what I found, the flywheel bolts have backed out our broke off, the center of the crank appears to have a center bushing or something like it and it sticks out about a 1/16th of an inch. I'm suprised it lasted this long.

I'll be taking the whole motor to a machine shop to have them look at the crank and see if it can be salvaged.

Ouch. If you find a thin washer\spacer that goes between the flexplate and the crank, keep it as they are hard to come by and are absolutely needed.
