I posted my findings on the tech forum but I will post here also. the center of the crank had a bushing or something like it and it stuck out about 1/16th of an inch...I don't think it ever should have been like that. anyway the flywheel bolts have broke off and just screwed up the end of the crank.
We rebuilt this motor about 6 years ago in a rush to get my son off to school in Oregon. My two boys and I did it fast and when we got the Crank back we must not have noticed, truthfully I don't remember a thing. The motor alwas did have a strange vibration after the rebuild. This got worse with the carb and header/more power. Here are a couple pictures.

if you look at the crank you can see in the center the worn area that sticks out. I really don't think it was ment to be this way. lucky for me that the raider is just a toy now and no hurry to get it up and running. although I would like to get is all done asap. I just hate having unfinished business around.
