The crank?? What happened? I saw your post in Tech and thought maybe you had a tranny problem.

I posted my findings on the tech forum but I will post here also. the center of the crank had a bushing or something like it and it stuck out about 1/16th of an inch...I don't think it ever should have been like that. anyway the flywheel bolts have broke off and just screwed up the end of the crank.
We rebuilt this motor about 6 years ago in a rush to get my son off to school in Oregon. My two boys and I did it fast and when we got the Crank back we must not have noticed, truthfully I don't remember a thing. The motor alwas did have a strange vibration after the rebuild. This got worse with the carb and header/more power. Here are a couple pictures.

if you look at the crank you can see in the center the worn area that sticks out. I really don't think it was ment to be this way. lucky for me that the raider is just a toy now and no hurry to get it up and running. although I would like to get is all done asap. I just hate having unfinished business around.

Never mind, i thought you had a v6 with a crank bolt failure. Since you've got a 2.6 it might be cheaper to source another crank, looks like you need a flex plate as well

Just realized, i think you are missing the shims that go between the flex plate and crank.

I'm thinking the crank is meant to kinda stick out where the flexplate bolts up to, if i remember right. And I think toast is right looks like your missing the big shim from our flext plate.

I know of a machine shop in east mesa if you wanna take the drive. Its on Val Vista and main, called Johnny Rackleys. Nice guy and does good work as far as I can see.

Yep I think I now remember the big washer with holes in it...we took it all to the machine shop when we rebuilt this motor. I guess we did not get it back and put it together with out it...I am sure it was one of those deal with to many cooks in the kitchen. we were all just throwing things together. again I'm suprised it lasted this long. about 30k since the rebuild.

Was hoping to find a good shop closer so I will look around and ask questions...

Does anyone know of any cranks fly wheels for sale. otherwise I may need to find another 2.6 and pull the motor and trans to get these parts...

any thoughts or ideas will be apreciated.
Mark

It vibrated do to the fact theres a bushing thats not there to center the flex plate and converter on the crank ...They pulled it to turn it ..Know one put it back it shook it self apart .. Sorry...

I have a Starion crank up here in Prescott for $60 if you want it .. You will still need the bushing .. Is easy to make ... can do that too..Sorry I'm a stick shift sort of guy ... No auto trans parts...sorry on the Raider fragging.. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
