I've done it both ways. I think KevinC said the starion pump was better, but the truck pump is adequate, if everything is in good repair. I did it first with a starquest pump in a d50, and extended the pickup with part of the truck pickup, length just under 1". I had to swap pans when I went from d50 to raider, as the front diff clearance dent in the pan is in a different place (truck engine is further forward). I used the stock raider pump and pickup when I transplanted the motor, and had no problems (until I went 'nek with the boost one day. It was one of those "here, hold my beer and watch this" moments, and I clankeyed the engine, destroying a piston. It ran for over 3 years after the transplant, and about 5 years before.
