I have looked at all the local parts houses and all I can find is a listing for a fram, but the store warehouse is out of stock. The manufacturer is no longer making an oil filter for this truck. I have another oil filter housing from a D50 that takes a smaller filter (available at NAPA), but it was damaged in a collision (I got the engine from the damaged D50 for my Mits). I need to use the larger filter. I have searched this forum, but have only found numbers for the 4D56. Are the filters the same? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rollguy (the Diesel guy)

Update: I tried a NAPA 1067 (4D56 application), and it DOES NOT FIT! It definately takes the Fram PH6353 (or equivalent). The factory # is: MD069783. There are no auto parts stores locally that stock this filter. Someone please help!

Cross reference jumps from FRAM PH6349 to PH6354. No PH6353. And the Mitsu number doesn't cross.
A suggestion would be to try a NAPA #1324. It's fitment is the 2.3 diesel in the 83-84 Mitsu pickup. It'd be worth a shot. That's all the info I can come up with. Hope that helps!

Got it from my WIX filter catalog at my NAPA store. If you drop the first number on the WIX, you get the NAPA number. The NAPA filters are WIX in the box. As a matter of fact, there are more WIX filters in NAPA boxes than there are in WIX boxes. We're their largest customer I don't know whether the 1324 will fit or not. You sounded desperate and I thought I would offer that as a possibility. By application, the 1067 IIRC, is the correct filter. But, obviously, if you've tried it and it doesn't fit, then it's not right. Did you check to make sure the filter in the box had the same number printed on it as was printed on the box. Misboxes or mislabels aren't very common, but they do happen on occasion. I've also had them have the wrong threads tapped into them. Again rare, but I've seen it. Have you tried another 1067 to be sure it's not right? Could you have some sort of filter relocater that may require a different filter than what the application calls for? Just throwing out ideas to try to help you figure it out...

I think the 1324 and 1182 both have 20mm X 1.5 threads, and have the same relief valve psi. The only real difference is the height (5.19"1182, 4.08" 1324). They seem to be for the 4D56, not the 4D55. The filter I need has 30mm threads.

That's really strange. The filter cross refs I put in the sticky were originally for 4D55's, but they fit our 56's? Wish I could give you more help...

The filter I need has 30mm threads. Going by thread size listings for all lube filters in the WIX catalog: In 30x1.5mm NAPA #1627 height 5.571" OD 4.252" Oring ID 3" OD 3.4". No anti-drain back valve and no by-pass valve. The other 30x1.5 listed is over 10" long, doubt that's it... In 30x2.0mm, the listed numbers are 8.43" and 9.145" long, so they're probably not it either.

I have a large stash of the PH6353 filters. They come in a Fram box but they are made by Mitsubishi. If you want one they are $50 each and that includes shipping. Regular price is around $68 per filter. Let me know if your interested. I feel your pain, not only are these things really hard to find, but they cost a small fortune. These filters were only used a trucks equipped with California emmissions and they are much much a larger than the smaller filters used on the federal emmission vehicles. If I remember right they weigh 7lbs each. It's a big freakin filter. If you can't wait a a day or two for shipping, I have one sitting in Glendale at a buddy's shop I can sell ya, but you'd have to pick it up because he does not deliver. Spence Spenceevans@yahoo.com
