It's okay, we'll forgive you. But I think you should give them a call, I think you canget them for Cheaper than $18 per filter. Just figure they weigh 4 lbs each. Wholesale is the way to go if you want to save money in the long run.

I just talked to a friend of mine that has the exact same truck as mine, and he is willing to go in with me and get some filters as well. Between the three of us (my brother, my friend and I)I think we can do a bulk buy and spread the cost between us. I need to find out if they have filters for the Benz and Ford Diesels. I will search the site tomorrow.

RockAuto.com has some for $3.16 that will work according to the cross reference list.

BECK/ARNLEY Part # 0418056

Never had an issue with the Beck/Arnley aftermarket stuff, or WIX

It's not the same filter, that's the smaller filter.

I got an email from a guy that saw this thread and he had 3 filters for sale locally. I met up with him and bought all 3 for $60. He also had 2 glow plugs that I got for $20 each. He was selling his truck, and no longer needed the parts.

From what I have heard, the PH6353 is for California trucks only. Why that would be, I don't know. I had a D50 that had the smaller filter, so either it was a non-California, or it was because it was a Dodge. It also may only be the case for '85 trucks, and not other years. Both my friends and mine are Cal trucks, and both Mitsubishi (even the same color). Both take the big filter.

It all depends, none of the '83 trucks used the larger filter because none came with Cali emmissions. All Mitsubishi and Ram 50 diesel trucks in 84-85 that were equipped with Cali emmissions(EGR) were fitted with that larger filter as part of the Cali emmisions. I personally avoid buying a Cali emmisions truck if at all possible because it kills the fuel milage not to mention the price of this filter. Be aware that some trucks equipped with California emmisssions were sold in other states but all truck sold in Cali 84-85 were equipped with Cali emmissions.

That would mean that the engine in my truck (removed from a wrecked D50 with small filter) is non Cali emissions. I think that is a good thing. My friends truck has the 4D56 intercooled turbo engine (used from Japan), and he had to use the filter housing from the old engine, as the 4D56 housing was too close to the frame (I think).

My recommendation is to find the 83 model oil filter housing. I have it on all my 4d55's and buy oem mitsu filters for $5
Thats the smaller filter. Don't think I would recommend Rigging in a seperate filter. Kinda mickey mouse in my opionon.
