the expedition trailer idea is good, but requires one to setup a base camp and hit trails (aggressive trails) without the trailer. I just couldn't find myself doing aggressive wheeling trails with something connected to my <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> end.

putting 300-400 lbs in my roof rack isn't much better, but it keeps my overall vehicle length shorter for tight trails.

i like the trailer idea if setting up a base camp, but I probably won't ever get one.

in the future, when my kids are grown up and out of the nest, I plan to put a roof top tent on this rig and rip out the 2nd row seats for additional stowage of gear.........my wife and I will then start some intercontinental trips and possibly even over seas or 'frozen seas' across the ice to the arctic circle and back.

this is much later in my retirement years; hopefully my other 2 gen II monteros will supply me the parts to keep this SR running and well.
