Today's numbers:

HC....0.88/3.00 = PASS

CO....11.64/25.00 = PASS

NOX...1.70/4.50 = PASS

New catalytic converter was $85 w/ tax, welded on by Toasty in trade for stuff, plus I noticed the choke was not wanting to stay open when the truck was hot, so I stuck a screw in the closing tension spring to force it to stay open fully. That makes it kind of stall sometimes when leaving a stop, but it was worth it. I'll take it out now.

Transferred the title and got plates until Sept. 2011 for $24.50.

Thanks, everybody!

John B.

you know, one of the good things I can see about the emissions testing is it does keep you on top of the engine. You probably have more power than those of us who don't have to deal with it. But the money they make you spend to do it.

HazToys: Sure, please hang on to the flashlight. I'll get it from you soon...

As to the 'more power' thing, I don't think that exists with a 2.6. Twice nothing is still nothing!

John,

I must comment that 'power' is a relative statement. The Montero 2.6L makes gangs more 'power' than my Sprite or LUV trucks, but less than my 68 Buick GS400. Second, the 2.6L is quite torquey, and for it's weight class would remind me of my 77 Dodge W300 with 360/NP435 and 4.88s in the Danas. Still, since 'power' is of relative 'more power' we must live at the neighbor's house to see/remember what it's like. Someone needs to fund a Rodeck Montero project...

Pardon my ignorance, Russell, but what's that?

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...
