Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
I am in the process of changing the AC evaporator coil on my 97 Wrangler. The Haynes manual is again usless, it only shows the earlier under dash AC unit. I have the dash loose and pulled back. I am now trying to figure out how to remove the heat/AC box under the dash. I beleive there maybe at least 4 bolts on the engine side of the fire wall. Also how do I disconnect the AC lines at the coil & dryer, I have removed the spring clips and the connections do not disconnect, is there a special tool required?
Thanks for the help Doug

You will need a a/c line disconnect tool kit, your local parts store should have them. They are usually made of plastic, and are like a split sleeve that fits the OD of the aluminum tube, then you push it into the small gap in the fitting to release the coil spring that holds the two halves together. This place has a few different sets: http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/c-104-disconnect-tools.aspxI think one of the bolts for the housing is behind the PCM on the passenger side firewall. Hope this helps!

Marty,
Thanks for the reply, I just got back from the auto parts store with the tubing kit. I see several bolts on the engine side of the fire wall. Hopefully this evening it will be cool enough to go out and work on the Jeep more. It over 95 with lots of humidity down here in southern Georgia.

Us guys down here in Texas really feel sorry for you'ns in Georgia that are too hot! I thought we had a corner on the hot market. As for your a/c question I've not had a problem such as yours but the answers you have got so far seem like good ones. Big JIm <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />
