I found someone that is parting with one for $2500. it has 85000 miles and says it is in perfect shape with all regular maintenance done to it. I'm asking why the price is so low, but have not heard back yet. If this rig checks out, what are peoples thoughts? This would be a DD for the Mrs. MPG looks comparable to my chev blazer and posts I see here say that they are getting around 16mpg. is that about right? I'm trying to go look at it today, so I'm looking for some quick replys. thx all.

$2500 for a 2002 Montero Limited? You sure it's not a Montero Sport Limited? BIIIIIG difference in the two, although that would still be cheap for the latter also!

Is it for sale on craigslist? There was one that popped up for sale here in Charlotte for $3800 a few months back. A little internet searching led me to find it for sale at a car dealership in Washington state for closer to $10K...beware of the scammer!

If it's a straight up sale on the real deal, it's the deal of the decade! Yes, you should buy it!

To be more realistic, I get about 12.75-14 MPG around town and 16-18 on the highway. I am running 265/75/16's though...reads almost dead nuts on the speedometer versus radar.

Granted, it must be a scam, but how do people get away with doing such a thing? The first person to look at it in person and find out what the deal really is would be so angry about it as to bury the person (figuratively) online.

So, you know, I sent them an email. I want to look at it in the morning.

The guy said his name is steven A. Morgan. He was saying that the funds need to be done via ebay motors. let me know if he says the same to you.

Same scam that was done on the one I talked about earlier...something about paying via ebay motors for the protection of both parties blah, blah, blah.

Same scam from a few months ago, more than likely the same people.

I was involved with one of these scams awhile back. it sucked the emails I was reciving had ebay addresses everything seem legit. and ebay says that there is no bogus items on their website so bid confidence. That is junk. i caught the same scam twice andturned him in. i think they got caught the last time but still did not help me, but this one thing they told me. if anything is through ebay like this there will be 2 copies of the email. one to your personal email and one to your "my ebay" if you do not see the same email in both places, SCAM and turn them in to ebay.

Here's the email he sent to me this morning:

Hi,
First of all I would like to thank you for your interest in my truck. My price for this truck is firm. The exterior is flawless, interior is like new and the
engine runs like a dream. It has never been involved in any accidents or any minor damage and it doesn't have any scratches or dents. All regular maintenance
was performed at an authorized garage. The title is clean..It is in immaculate condition
From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services. We will use eBay`s
protection program for our safety. I just need your full name and address so I can open a case .(with no further obligation or fees)I am affiliated at eBay
and I have a purchase protection account
If you want to buy my car e-mail me with any questions that you may have.
Thanks!

Ummm...NO. Why can't I just come and look at the vehicle? Why would you need my name and address? Don't you like American cash money? Obviously a scam, but I'll play with him for a while. I'll let you know what happens...

John B.
