Agree with you there. I don't have a lot of patience when it comes to "tinkering" with my cars, so trying to do a turbo swap is something I'd probably find too frustrating, and not worth the time and money. It's running pretty good now with the Weber, so I don't want to press my luck. I have a 1994 Taurus SHO that I might be selling, in order to buy a 1983 Alfa Romeo Spyder as my "fun" car. If that happens, I'll need the Monty to be the reliable daily driver. I'm sure putting the turbo swap on will make the Monty drive entirely different, but I don't want to roll the dice and ruin its daily driver abilities.

Totally agree... I have a DD that is totally stock. Getting to work is job 1. If that doesn't happen I my options for having a toy are pretty limited.

At this point my Turbo Raider is reliable enough to be a DD, but getting to that point took a bit. Its a matter of picking and choosing what you want to work on.

Glad to hear the carb is working out.

The swap is a lot of work really. It always seems real simple on paper but it's all the small things that add up.

This is the third time I have done a g54bt swap to a vehicle, and the second time I did a 5 speed swap along with a g54bt swap. I think im done with the whole 5 speed swap thing for now... It adds a lot more work to the turbo swaps. I'm running out of a lot of the turbo parts I dont normally use like harness plugs, and random stuff needed for the swap, so this will probably be my last g54bt swap for quite awhile.

I can see hoiw just tossing a weber on is how you are going. I've been in that spot, and man sometimes I wish it was that easy, but once you get the turbo bug you really dont go back. Well ok, I still wanna build a c2 engine for my lancer instead of the turbo engine that is in it, but 1800lbs car with a stock turbo engine already pretty intense, and so is the abuse on the rear end lol. I've owned around 9 starions, and im very comfortable with the turbo engine. Amazing torque and power for a pretty bad fuel injection setup.

Another thing for me is, I am getting real f'n tired of doing all this work out of an apartment garage. It makes working on a car really annoying, and I lose all enjoyment. I use to rent a garage an hour away in vancouver and god that was great. a large 2 car with work benches, but no bathroom... God I wish I could get some work through the union.

Anyhow another update. I spent the entire night working on it again. Harness is hard wired in now. No b38 -_-.

Fuel pump wiring is done other than I need to figure out where I put the male plug for the harness at.

I also installed the downpipe, a missing jetvalve, put oil in it, and got oil pressure through the entire system.

If I had a large garage this swap woulda went much faster but with the small garage [censored] gets put everywhere I can stack it and I can never find anything, so I spend hours looking for stupid things like downpipe gaskets

Been a long time since I updated this. I slacked off quite awhile. Ended up getting some work at my friends auto repair shop for a month or so, and had no desire to go home and work on my own rig after messing with cars I hate all day long lol.

Anyhow, I had been playing around with my accusump. I found a few good places to mount it, but I will not be installing it anytime soon. I still need to buy an electric valve for it, and frankly, I dont think I will be doing any hard core wheelin that could require it anytime soon.

I don't even remember my last update, but here is where I am right now.

What I have left.
-I need to make a bracket for my power steering reservoir
-put atf in the power steering
-finish up adapting the carb box to the starion box one of these days
-repair another break in my harness I found. F'n knock sensor was broke in 3 spots, I think I will just grab a male plug off one of my other wiring harnesses.
-solder in a o2 plug, yes this harness needed some serious attention.
-Bolt the shifters in, and install the interior bits I removed
-install a 7 dollar john baker class 2 hitch. Ironically I found 2 at the jyard, so I snagged the perttier of the 2, and even pocketed a 1 7/8 ball and a 2incher.
-Buy about 7 wheel studs fr all teh dang studs that broke off when I pulled the original wheels off.
-install aisin manual hubs
-Maybe drain the tank before I add fuel.
-add coolant

And the very last - Install a mitsubishi grill smile I'm real close to firing this thing up. I misplaced my camera memory card, so no pics right now, but soon.

I'll probably be fabricating some shackles shortly for a slight lift. The rear end seems a little saggy, so once I crank the torsion bars up a bit to help with these very negative offset 12" wide wheels, I should have an idea on how many inches I need to go.

I figure I will drive it around a bit and get a chance to enjoy the rig before I install my sr air locker rear end. I find if I let a project go for too long, I lose all motivation. Driving the vehicle you are working on is always good motivation smile

Well, I found my fuel delivery issue. I need to find a new setup as my fuel gauge isnt working either. If anyone has a working unit I would like to buy it off you.

When I did my swap I welded in a larger pickup tube and used the screen from a Starion. This provided the 12mm pickup the injection pumps want.

Well after getting a new fuel pickup sent to me, I got the tank installed yesterday then managed to fire it up today.

It did take me about a hour of goofing around before I got it to fire though. I forgot to install the injector resistor smile I did the same damn thing n my lancer. Oh well, she seems to be running p[retty good considering I havent capped hallf the vaccuum tits.

I need to figure out where I have a injector resistor, install the throttle cable, bolt down the hood, replace some broken wheel studs, and figure out where this water leak came from. I'll probably get a temp permit on friday and take it for the maiden voyage.

well apparently the radiator I've been holding onto has a bad leak somewhere. Go figure. I havent been able to find my starion throttle cable yet either, so I may have to steal one off another car. I did get to drive it today and threw a temp permit on. I idled it down the parking lot in second. oooh what a rush..

Time to find a radiator.
