Any idea what jets are in it? I had to redo my high idle rod this past weekend and jotted down the sizes that mine came with, although I later realized I forgot one on each side.

I do not know the size. Guessing stock. Did you buy the Weber "jet kit"? I have a wideband that I was thinking about installing to get an idea on where the A/F is running. Not sure it would gain much more with adjustments.

I was thinking about it, but the kit isn't far off what I've got and since I'm not sure if I'd need to go up or down on fuel/air I might buy some seperately. Did you get the Weber from Weber Carbs Direct?

No I bought it lightly used from a member here. He said he never messed with the stock jetting.

Finally got around to trying to find the source of the rattling sound, after a co-worker of mine said the engine sounded like a snow-blower he used to have, lol! Even though the rattling noise goes away after a few minutes, it's still there at start-up, every time (no relation to engine temp).

So I popped the hood yesterday, removed the air cleaner, started the engine, and listened. The rattling sound was actually coming from that pump gizmo thing on the exhaust side, and was coming thru the thick black hose that I disconnected from the stock air cleaner lid. Once I put my hand over the end of the hose, the sound stopped. So I left the hose there, found a thick rubber plug to stuff in the end of it, and now the rattling sound is completely gone. Doesn't seem to affect the engine performance, so I'm leaving it in.

Now that the rattling sound is gone, another little problem has cropped up. It seems to diesel pretty frequently now when I shut the engine off. It'll just sit there and knock and knock and knock, till I either turn the key to start, and let it run for a few seconds, or I leave it off and just press the gas pedal to the floor, which of course results in a thick gasoline smell.

I thought I had the fuel/air screw adjusted right, and the idle was set right around 800 rpms. So I guess I'll have to recheck those things, if the dieseling doesn't go away.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
i dropped my idle to around 600 and it doesnt do that anymore. im running the same set up as you btw. the only problem i having now is the carb seems to be loading up at start and ive got to wot the throttle to get it going which results in that o so lovely gas cloud. i think ive got to get a better regulator.

nother day,nother busted knuckle.

Turned the idle set screw a quarter turn to the left, which dropped the idle rpms down to about 650 or so, and it didn't diesel (at least the two times I turned the engine off since making that adjustment).

Hopefully, that'll do the trick...
