Yo guys, I'm building mildly wild 4g64 motor for my 2wd and in the never ending quest to find a better tranny I ran across Bill Hichner (billsautofab.com) he was at the time currently refining a transmission adapter bellhousing for a mitsu wideblock to toyota r154. He's currently done with it.
Now I have yet to order mine for my project but if you hang out on 0g any at all you know bill does good work. Upon thinking about this I realized that means you could run a toyota tranny and tcase behind your 2.6/4d55. Meaning you'd have the option of some crazy tcase options doublers gears and what not. Any one interested in it or have any comments?
I emailed bill today and he says he'd have to machine a 1/4 inch off of it for for the 4x trannys but he did conclude his email as saying yes it can be done.
This sounds like a great way to solve the km145......

rom what information I have gathered, the W series Toyota 5 speed ( W 55-59 non turbo) is the same input length at the pre '96 R 151 and 150 which was built for the v6 truck and 22re turbo engines in 4wd and 2 wd
then after '96 R 151 and 150 was built for the V-6 truck but an inch was added to the input shaft length so here is the deal w-55-59 and pre 96 r 151 and r 150ááááááááááá = 6.5 inch input shaft r 154á Toyota Supra turbo transááááááááááááááááááááá = 7.25 in input shaft after 96 r 151 and r 150áá V-6 Toyota transááááá = 7.50 input shaft And i should be able to add 1/4 inch to my R 154 bellhousing to accept the after 96 r151 and r150
Latest and greatest email from bill if any ones paying attention

Bill is a great guy. I suggested he build a r154 adapter way back in the day, and now we have one. his work is TOP NOTCH. I was thikning maybe see if he could do a bellhousing to a mitsu v6 5 speed trans to wideblock bell housing, but if the toyota trans are tough then maybe not.

As I'm sure your aware mr. Airbats, the r154 trans I capable of 500-600ponies in stock configuration. With the first gear thrust washer being the main problem, wich they sell an upgraded one now so.....

No as I recall, but with the use of all the yoter aftermarket you could easily enough swap it over to do driverside drop or passenger.

From what I understand isnt mating the transfer case to a r154 kind of a franken thing like doing the km132 guts into the km145 I was kicking around some ideas with the 1jz a long time ago and 4wd and thats about what i could find.
