Dude!, for real, calling individuals out on the net! I can understand the seriousness of your post but, we are here learning and exchanging ideas, and making mod's to our own equipment to enjoy them more!. and if concerns are made it is with respect that we make them. not this BS that you are displaying. you display the Confederate Flag and yet don't show the manners of a true Southerner.please refrain from all of this insensitive behavior!

Wow! It's only a set of sliders what's the worst that can happen? Ray leaves one on the ground while out on the trail It's not like those welds are holding together an SAS job.

Sure, if the brackets were the right way round and there was some triangulation it would be stronger, but so what? If one falls off (probably won't) you can take some of the constructive suggestions on board and make it better. Then, as Frank said, you have learned something new.

I know you're not sweating it anyway Ray

Mine are "upside down" as well; we also added the triangle pieces after they were mostly already attached to the truck. They have been hi-lift and rock tested.

In the big picture, you guys are right not much will happen if a weld fails on the sliders. When I had a Rover, if those damn sliders weren't strong enough and they got bent up a little you couldn't open the door! Looks like the Mitsu's won't have that problem though.

Is somebody insecure about rainbows?

anyway......Those welds are fine for that application.

Did I miss internet threats???? Dang! I wanted to do some kick-boxing in my Rainbow Sandals. The irony would be worth the jail time.

Well I guess they are upside-down .

As for the little triangle pieces, I was definitely planning to use them but since the legs aren't mounted at a 90* angle we'd have to modify each one to work and with a limited amount of time left so we elected not to use them for now.

Anyone know where can I buy body seam sealer? It's the stuff that's painted on the various body panel seams & seals them from the elements.

I was going to use it to seal the areas around the rock skid mounting plates that aren't welded.

The parts stores (o'reily & autozone) only had this epoxy putty available but I wasn't sure if that's what I should get so I didnt.

A friend suggested I try a local commercial auto paint store but am open to other sources as well. Just not online sources cause I'm not good with the delayed gratification you get from waiting for the delivery.

Need a Spot
like I said the other day...You should have got the chrome rockers! Or at least polished aluminum....

2001 Montero XLS. Needs some TLC.
My B**ch ex-wife really treated this vehicle badly. Been fixing it up since I had to take possesion after the divorce.

Couldn't wait to find the sealer any more and painted them up last night...

Used 2 coats of Dupli-Color Etching Primer and 4 coats of Rustoleum Hammer Brown finish. I was able to complete both using a little over 1 can of each.

Once I find the correct paint on sealer, I'll strip down the areas near the welds that will be sealed, then seal & repaint them.
