Just got back from 2 weeks in Moscow/St. Petersburg. I had no idea that the Montero was so popular there. I saw them all over! Way more than I do here in Califronia. Saw late model full sizes, small mini-monteros, 2 doors etc... http://michaelkmorrison.shutterfly.com/pictures/17I liked the fact that the new models have the spare time mounted right in the middle of the read door rather than to the right. Wish I had ordered my door for 2001 from Russia as it would have made an interesting mod to my vehicle.
2001 Montero XLS. Needs some TLC. My B**ch ex-wife really treated this vehicle badly. Been fixing it up since I had to take possesion after the divorce.

Pajeros were all over Russia when we were there getting the kids. Saw a few Gallopers too, before knowing what they are. I was convinced on site that Hyundai had to ahve partnered with Mitsu.
Yeah, MT diesels with LHD were there.

A few years ago when the Galant was produced only here in the states, Russia was the largest importer of the car. i expect this is still true.

The fixing on My 2001 is getting real close to done. I've just got four things to do. 1 - Replace rear passenger side bumper section 2 - Get a new glove box. 3 - New passenger side mirror 4 - Get the stink of my ex-wife out of the interior. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />
Actually, I it's more of a wet-dog smell. I removed the seats and used a rental carpet cleaner to do the seats & carpet so the interior is WAY cleaner than it was when I got it back. But the smell is still kinda there.

3 - New passenger side mirror But I like the sheet rock screws! Adds character! 4 - Get the stink of my ex-wife out of the interior. That may require a visit from a 'forensic' cleaner. Actually, I it's more of a wet-dog smell. I removed the seats and used a rental carpet cleaner to do the seats & carpet so the interior is WAY cleaner than it was when I got it back. But the smell is still kinda there. It's probably mold/mold spores Mike.
