Do you have autohubs? I wonder if this could be your problem? I'll let others more knowledgeable speak up.

Which shifter? The Transmission or the transfer case?

Sounds like tcase to me. either way, it is not normal. have you installed a body lift? I would check to see if there is anything getting in the tcase shifters way that is preventing it from fully locking in or is putting tenstion on it when in 4lo making it easier to slip out of gear. Since it is only happening in R, your running gear should be torqueing in the opposite direction, so maybe something is binding?

It has been a while, but I had the same problem. There is a roll pin at the bottom of the tranny shifter that is pushed to far one way or the other. I used a pair of channel locks to even it up. I don't remember all the details. I'm sure someone here can help you out. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

It pulls the tranfer case shifter out of 4lo, also the trans mount is brand new. I'll open the top and check the roll pin, Thanks for all the help. Mike

What about the body lift question? If you have lifted it, putting the tranny shifter in R might pull the tcase shifter back from the stretching of the boots. (?)
