Body Damage is Cool
As my 85 4Runner looks today. Swirly stripe was on it when I purchased from a little lady in early 2003.

Now, my brother is trying to convince me to remove the stripe. Here's my "paint" attempt:

What do you guys/gals in the offroad community think I should do? Keep it, or remove it?

Thanks!

Keep the stripes until you require a new paint job.

Keep it. It looks nice and adds some character.

If it was just a plain Runner, the wave stripe would look a bit out of place given the straight body line of the rig. However, given the modifications, the wave stripe goes very well with the overall theme, and looks correct w/the "Surf" emblem. It has the look of of a custom one off build, or a special(1 of 50) "Limited Edition" packages from the factory.

If anything, I'd lose the "surf" wording. That strikes me as a bit teenage/tacky. Plus, Arizonans aren't Kalifornia surfer dudes. Maybe cover it up with Gun Owners of America stickers?

Overall, nice vehicle. Pretty is as pretty does, and yours is a beauty.;) My stock pickup looked very anemic parked near it.

^^Normally the "Surf" emblem might/would look out of place on a truck in AZ, however, the 4-Runner is actually called the Surf in Japan, so the sticker still has a purpose.

x 4; looks good, gives a modest custom look.

Besides, it's not yer brother's truck. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

You've had the truck for 7 years, so don't let him bug ya.

Margie,
You have a great point, it's not his truck.

For others,
The outlined word above "SURF" is "HILUX"
Hard to see in this pic. But, everywhere in the world,
except North America, the 4Runner is a "Hilux Surf"
