Maybe it's just me, but those tires look too big for those rims. They're 12.5" wide on an 8" wide rim? It looks like they're pulling in too much towards the center. Wouldn't a 10" wide rim fit those tires better? I realize they'd end up sticking outside the wheel wells a little bit more, but that's what fender flares are for. Sounds like there needs to be some body trimming either way, but I would think going with a 10" wide rim would fit those tires better?

He couldn't air down as much with a 10" wheel. He'll be able to go down to around 10lbs without worrying about de-beading.

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

Agreeing on the 'narrow wheel being good' part. I have my 33x12.5's on 7" wheels and really like it. 12 lbs. is no problem and rides great. Tires are wearing evenly on the road at 34 psi and it handles fine, too.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I had these same tires on my 86 4runner on 8" wide rims. It performed very well. Drove across country with it, did the Rubicon and ran some trails in Colorado.

10" wide would be better with bead lock wheels. This truck was supposed to be a budget build. Somehow that never works out.

Ahhhh...forgot about that part of owning a 4wd, lol...thanks for the gentle reminder! I don't plan on mine seeing anything worse than beach sand or the occasional fire road, no need to air down, but thanks for the reminder about the more hard core wheeling options...

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Just picked up the truck from the Line Up Shop. They cranked the torsion bars for approx 1" lift. I'm surprised it couldn't go higher. The a-arm is just barely touching the bump stop. No issues with achieving proper alignment. They said the steering linkage look good.

I have a list of stuff to get done before we go 4wheeling Saturday.
