So, I live here in the SoCal in the Valley and I was on ebay looking at Sway-away torsion bars when I noticed that the company is in Chatsworth. On my way home from work, I decided to stop by and talk with a rep. Every time I inquire about them with a retailer, they go for about $220 (http://www.swayaway.com/OffRoadTrucks_5.php). After talking with the guy for a while, he said that they were discontinued and that they have about 70 sets laying around. He also said that if I could find enough buyers, he would cut me a deal. With enough orders, there would be significant savings. Here is what he quoted me:

1 set $142.00 set, plus tax

10 sets $109.00 each set, plus tax

25 sets $76.00 each set, plus tax

All 70 $50.00 each set, plus tax

Shipping is the buyer's responsibility.

Anyone interested? Has anyone heard good/bad info on Sway-away bars? This may just be something to try on my own.

I'm wondering about balance FR/RR, if the torsion bars up front are stiffer but the rear suspension stays stock?

Also...are these available for both Gen1 & Gen2? I'd guess they would be different as the curb weight is different, and spring rates are usually different between two models once the curb weight differs by ~100 lbs or more.

I would be in ...I had a set on a truck but its been some years ago and loved them ...Stock Gen1 truck small t-bar crank ...Ran it on fast gravel had a job in the mining industry ... Ran 45 mile of dirt road in to work and 45 miles out to go home every day ... "I" never was thinking they were to stiff ...They would get stiff at the end of there travel ...But I had about 7 miles of crazy "gravity cavitys" ..You could hit them hard and it would soak them up ...Where if you would drop into the gravity cavity with stock t-bars the truck would compress the suspension and "shot" you out the other side with no control ...I'm sure I would of wrecked the truck two times if it was not for the S/W bars ..One time I ended up off the road at a high speed and another getting into one of the gravity cavitys way to hot and compacting the suspension on the up hill side of the cavity .. Stock t-bars would of had the truck bousing like a rubber ball .. Trust me Ive done that before ..LOL..

It will ride better it will fix the "spring chop" that Mitsu's do on stock t-bars that at cranked up to much ...

I would be in on this on a set or maybe three...

I checked the site, curious on the their application cut-off. they show basically 82-89 and 90-00

And are the late 90 & 91 units really the same as Gen2? or is there a mistake in the listing for the year range?

The first Pajero concept SUV was in 1973 at an auto show...and the first Pajero to enter the Paris-Dakar Rally was 1983 (they started making them in '82 in Japan). <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

As for the year cutoffs...they are going off the JDM versions. The Gen2 in Japan came in January '91. But basically, if it's a US Gen1 platform, you need the smaller diameter bar. Gen2's get the larger (27.5mm?) bar.
