Thanks, Justice - doesn't sound very promising, but I'll crawl under the Raider tomorrow while I'm putting on the 32s and see if there's a way to gain 3" in bar length.

From what I saw today, does not look like it. But...if the bars on sale in this deal fit my 91 like it says they should, then they should probably be good to go for the 89 V6 as well..at least in length..I think the splines are the same across the board, but thats just a guess on my part. I'm still in for a set '90 - '94 Montero (D27.5mm x L53.80") = P/N SWA1737

Justice, I think Gen1 owners can forget it. I just measured mine and they're about 50". The only available set is 53". The rear anchor point for the bars is the cross member and it's welded. Even if you moved it on a SWB there will then be an issue with the rear axle trailing arms, because they also anchor to the same crossmember.
You may be able to figure out a way on the LWB, but I can't see how it can be done on a SWB without major surgery.

Frank Frank, I noticed the same thing on my SWB the Cross member for the torsion bar adjusters is the same cross member that the trailing arms mount to. From what I remember, measuring down there 50" seems about right, just wish we had a bar out of the truck to get the exact length confirmed...

Here is what I know. I have Swayaway bars in my 91 that came out of my 93SR. The early SRs had the 3.0 so the bars were the same length. I think the length of the bars is different because of the 3.5 motor tranny combo sits a few inches farther back.

So just to be clear, despite talking about the deal being only for Gen 2 t-bars, these will NOT fit a 95 Gen 2 SR, correct? I was in if they would fit my truck, but it looks like they will not. Oh well.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

So dudes,
it sounds like sway away isn't the answer for the SWB Gen I. Does anyone know if the ARB replacement torsion bars work on our GEN I V6 SWB? I noticed on a price sheet somewhere they were available but haven't actually called ARB USA to find out. Maybe that is an option? I'd like a winch on the front of my truck but a little worried about the sag factor. Is re-indexing the stock torsion bars an option?

my FSM shows same length but different diameters for 89 SWB 2.6 and 3.0. #.0 has smaller diameter. The splined ends are the same size.
