Okay, on second attempt I finally get out of town after blowing up an NV4500 transmission on attempt #1.
With my new jeep on a trailer and making great progress, I arrive at first stop for a family and friends BBQ.
Next stop was for fishing. Well, three days later, the wind and rain quit long enough for a day of drowning worms with no luck.
BTW, spent 4 nights at 7500 foot elevation and did get some good nights of sleep. Brother wanted me to climb Mt Borah with him. After considering that you start the trail at 7500 elevation point and end at just over 12,550 elevation point, I carefully considered the risk-benefit...
The trail is slightly more that 3.5 miles with an elevation rise of slightly more than a mole...
I slept in while brother and his son headed up. They didn't make the full trail...
Anyway, headed back to flat lands today. My motorhome decided to take a vacation...
Diesel engine with full AC running can go over 50 miles on battery power alone.
No alternator, dead battery, emergency service said tow truck on the way within an hour.
The driver was maybe a minute late. However, it was well over an hour to prep the motorhome for towing which included a drive line disconnect.
So, the MH under tow is headed west on a highway when it needed to be headed south. But, a 38 foot tow rig with 36 foot motorhome and a 16 foot trailer need a few acres to turn around.
15 miles later, a wide spot that may work. An hour later after hooking the trailer to ease the turn around, finally headed in the right direction.
The Freightliner Service Center adjacent to the Flying J on I-84 between Jerome and Twin Falls, ID has some great people working there. They offered to let me stay in the MH in their locked lot. I opted for an adjacent motel with HOT shower and a few cold brews and dinner that I didn't have to make. I followed their advice and found hot shower, cold brews and good dinner.
As it stands, I am scheduled for a service appointment at 8:30 in the morning. If it only the alternator, I should be on my way within a couple of hours.
Hopefully,....

Wow! Good luck, and hopefully your gut is right, and those are good folks. Good to at the mercy of good folks, when you're far from home. It does sound like you're embracing this in the spirit of adventure, as opposed to complaining, so I'm thinking things are gonna turn out great for you! How much farther are you going on this epic journey? You are getting closer to my backyard... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Keepin' my fingers crossed for ya.
Dang- Borah's up there. When I was a kid, we had a gas-powered, chain-driven wheelbarrow to gravel the trail up to Heaven's Gate lookout up in the Seven Devils area, and that was 8500 ft. at the trailhead.
And boy, you could feel it. I was working for the Youth Conservation Corps at the time. Did a lot of cone-gathering at that elevation. Def. got me in shape for the next summer's real job surveying...

Tried to post an update but it got lost in the bit-bucket...
Alternator replaced and back on the road.
Got in a good day of fishing yesterday with brother and two of his grand-kids -- 5 and 10 year olds. Made it back with both kids and no bloody marks. All things considered, the 5 year old did great being on the boat for 6 hours with limited shade. She did have one close call with a hook...
Cleaned and filleted a good catch (41 - all in the 8-10 inch range) of crappie and perch. I have 30 packed in my freezer...
Headed south on Thursday with a few days in Sacramento before back to San Diego.
