well its getting interesting on how to bring my Montero back to life. New heads for 170.00 eash plus shipping only come with valves. If I need new cams are there any performance cams I could put in?

Or how about an engine swap... or some good used heads already built up??

I forget the company, but I do know its Aussie based. Performance cams, headers, ECU mod and I am sure you can find more if you look hard enough. I am sure others will chime in with the actual source. \

Personally I wouldn't go with another make swap, makes for better bragging rights when you know your still driving pretty much a stock setup. If I did swap, I would be buying a 2.8 or 3.2 TD from the overseas models.

Mods aren't going to be competitive with OE prices for a reason.

1.125-1.0 exchange rate is not that much difference. if it were quid to greenback that would be a different story and better price for sure.

There's nothing available. You can swap in SOHC Diamante cams and gain top end performance, but probably lose some on the bottom end of the curve. If you can fashion a way to adjust the cam timing, you can find a decent compromise, but the only way to do that is:

1) Offset bushings for the sprockets, which requires drilling the sprockets, removing the locating pin from the cam nose, over-drilling the cam to receive a .25" locating dowel and a whole bunch of fiddling to get the cams timed.

2) A set of adjustable cam sprockets like these:

One of these days, I'll install them and find out which cams are best for the 3.0L SOHC engine and where they should be timed.
