already done. truck was sitting out side the shop door. just wandered out with some sand paper, bit driver, wire, connectors and self tapping screws. ten minutes, and bam! done.

found the whole entire issue. rechecked the coax and found this...

pulled back a little rubber boot and found the shielding torn part way. sorry about the poor quality, it is a phone pic. replaced the cable on my lunch break, and bam! works fine! thanks for the help guys!
