The 6.0 Powerjoke alternator was a known issue. Ford has kept some of the information on how that one works close to their chest. Thru trial and error and field feedback, they've since remedied the issue.

Was the Land Rover unit water cooled? If so, I'm not surprised. On those I usually sell the Bosch reman unit. Since Bosch was the OE supplier, I figure they'll probably know best how reman their own unit...
