I started with the LR, then RR, then RF, then finally LF. I got the air out of each one until I hit the LF. It just spews bubbles, and no matter how many times I pump the brake, the bubbles/air aren't reduced. I then go back to the LR and follow the sequence again, finding that each line has some air in it (even though I previously got it out).

I replaced the front calipers a few years ago (Autozone). does this sound like a malfunctioning caliper?

Did you bleed the LSPV? Do it last.

I was intending to do it last, but I never got to it. Somehow lot of air is getting sucked into the LF caliper. I noticed the bleed screw doesn't really tighten unless I really torque on it. It's possible it's not quite sealing off in between brak-pumping sessions.

Also, I pretty much ran the master cylinder too low at one point last night. I should have had more light, as I missed where the mark actually was.
I'm not sure if the MC was sucking air, but it might have been. So, the question begs to be answered: Should I bleed the MC just in case, or should the normal bleeding technique at the calipers do the job?

My wife (pumping the brakes for me) was saying that the pedal felt really firm on the other three calipers before working on the LF one. And then the air that is getting in through the LF one makes it so I have to re-bleed the other three. I'll be playing with it again this evening, most likely.

Body Damage is Cool
If you went dry in the master, start at square one. Better safe than sorry. Finally, LSPV as oops said.

As far as the bleeder, pull it all the way out and visually inspect for dirt, debris. Clean and replace

Try gravity bleeding. Just crack each bleeder open, and leave it. Keep the master topped off. Let it go until each bleeder has a steady drip.

I ended up replacing that one bleeder valve screw. Didn't seem to make a difference, but it did seat in more firmly, like it should. The end result was the same: air in the system. So, my mechanic acquantence from church was in town, and he came over and looked at it. He bled the load leveler valve while I pumped the brakes. All the air's out now. I felt so stupid. I hadn't done that one because I was convinced there was a problem in the front left caliper (leaving the leveler for last). I still can't explain what I was experiencing, but now the air is out; so life is good again.

Air will always find its way to the highest point in a closed system.

Sounds stupid since you're done, but buy Russel Speed Bleeders. Best $20 mod you'll ever do... makes bleeding brakes a 1-man operation.

Brian and Margie,

Thanks for posting these. I wish I had them over the weekend, though, as my ineptitude witht he Mightvac resulted in me using a whole big bottle of fluid and royally hacked me off...

I'm ordering some tomorrow...
