I've been with State Farm for almost 20 years, with absolutely no problems. I've never had a claim filed against me, but when I've had to file, its always been smooth.

I have State Farm because my wife refuses to switch. I would check AAA.

Here's my insurance advice.

Find your state insurance commissioner. Find out what insurance he has. Get that insurance.

Who do you think is paying for those nifty Geico/Allstate/Statefarm commercials? Yeah.. you are.

I've never used State Farm myself (been with 21st for 10+ years), but a gal I work with has it and got sideswiped by a hit and run in her then brand new Tacoma (less than 3K on the ticker) and they wanted to put USED parts on her truck, including the frame which was damaged beyond repair. Luckily for her, the shop could not source any used parts for that new of a truck. And it took about 3-4 months for the claim to be completed. So from an outside view, I dont think I would use State Farm myself.

Just my .02 bucks

Damn fine advice there, Curtis!

>>>*We have had two claims against drivers with State Farm. Both were an absolute nightmare, one way back we settled just to get the mess over with, this last time was Le's accident where she was hit by a car.

Finally a team of lawyers was what it took to even get a reaction.

So if you have them for an insurer, probably fine, but if you have to file a claim against their insured, good luck.

*I suspect this is true of all of them, though...*EB

Once upon a time we had a very nice Opel Sportwagen. I had taken Cathie to work and had pulled into the left lane at a light to turn left and head back to work. A motorcycle cop pulls in front of me and blocks the intersection on the cross street, and motions me to go ahead and turn, as a funeral procession is coming up behind me. One of the other escort cops then passes me on the right and hooks the Opel's front bumper with the case saver bar, ripping it off and flipping him off higgledy piggley down the street.

Everybody fixes his own, since the "investigating officer" was the one who waved me ahead. All I had to do was replace 8 bolts.

9 months later I get served with a lawsuit where his insurance, State Farm, sued me for the cop's damages. Luckily, a couple of Cathie's coworkers were waiting to cross the street and saw the whole thing, and the judge tossed the case on the force of the depositions. AND awarded me attorney's fees, and unheard of event...

I had Statefarm until they jacked my rates and was still holding a fender bender against me 4 years after the fact. I dropped them the same day I found that out. I just removed myself from Nationwide. 2 years without incident with them but I dropped them last week because they refused to insure one of my cars I have in my moms name. I never had trouble before but the guy on the phone was an ass about it saying she would have to get a policy for it. I am not going to get it transfered just to get it insured. Progressive quoted me cheaper for all of my vehicles and my brother had great experiences with them. No issues with a vehicle not in my name either.

$126 a month for 3 cars, and $105 a year for my bike. I say that sounds fair.

I have my home, boat, motorcycle, 5 cars, 6 life insurance policies, and my mountain and dirt bikes all insured through State Farm. I've always been treated fairly, and have had no headaches with them.

I've been with USAA for a long time, 41 years, and haven't yet had a complaint. We've filed a couple times with them, and never a problem.

Several times my wife has gone to AAA for a quote, just for comparison. As soon as she mentions that we're with USAA they throw in the towel and say, "Stay there, we can't compete with them on price."

My last claim with USAA was last Thanksgiving, when I totaled my daughter's '92 Camry. My daughter was not pleased. I was hit by a young girl on I880 after she bounced off the center divide. CHP assigned 100% of the blame on the young girl. USAA paid on the policy as soon as my daughter said "yes, total it", and reimbursed the deductible after dealing with the other company, a "brand X" fly-by-night outfit I've never heard of. My daughter also has USAA.
