I have seen the Gen2 LWB rear diff swap done into the Gen1 SWB where using the Gen2 springs give a 1.5" lift but only ever seen it done V6 to V6.
I was wonder if the same springs would fit into the Gen1 2.5L turbo diesel with the same 1.5" lift outcome? Also what kind of effects would there be in spring rates etc as the V6 I imagine is heavier.
Thanks

I thought the gen1 diesels were leaf sprung <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Mine is a 1990 model (NG) so has the intercooler and the coil spring rear SWB. No disc brakes on the rear though, just drums.
I don't actually think the SWB came with disc rears.

all the coils I've seen on Monteros seem to be interchangable. Diameters are the same. wirediameters vary but they will fit. I have Old Man Emu 910s on my SWB. They are really made for LWB Gen 2s and M. Sports. They give me lift and good windy Mtn. road handling. The down side is possible pinion angle change causing vibration. Hope this helps.

I dont have any experience in diesel Montero/Pajeros. Well I did get to drive Landraider's SWB diesel conversion and I saw a Gen3 diesel in Mexico. All of the gen2s in the US have coil springs. The v6 in the gen1s is a 3.0 with aluminum heads. Does the 2.5 diesel have a steel head? If so it should weigh the same or may be a little heavier than the v6. I could not tell you if the diesels used different spring rates. I would think the spring rates would be the same. I dont know anything about swapping leaf springs.
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.
