I have noticed an engine oil leak on my 90 SWB 2.5 turbo diesel when I was doing the gearbox and t/case oil. I thought it was coming from around the sump gasket. Further inspection it looks like it might actually be coming from the cylinder head.
I popped the bonnet to look underneath and noticed coolant sitting on the bash plate. Not a lot of coolant maybe a table spoon. So I took the bash plate off to have a look and there seems to be coolant arround the top of the sump.
The radiator is still full but the overflow is right down past low, coolant doesnt appear contaminated and neither does the oil. I think I may have caught it before doing any damage to the actual cylinder head.
So....Is my head gasket in need of replacing?
I know this one is going to cost a pretty penny. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Just an update...
Coolant appears to be coming out of the water pump assembly. It isnt from the return pipe as it seems to coming more from the centre of the pump, dripping down on to the plastic cover for the timing belt and then running down and dripping on to the top of the sump lip.
I also noticed that the oil looks like it could be leaking from the oil line for the turbo which connects at the back of the cylinder head.
