The rig has been up and running for a week now. Absolutely no leaks, perfectly green coolant, no interference with oil, no idling issues, and runs completely smoothly.

It seems it was probably leaking from microscopic holes around the heater and bypass hoses, possibly due to a faulty thermostat. The old cap was bad too as the spring was stuck, so the complete overhaul paid off. Now I just need to figure out how to pass that smog retest. Broke the 15 mph NO PPM limit.
