you should probably measure your injectors with some digital calipers. I don't know what year Hyundai injectors I used so your might be different.
Get the right o rings , fer sur!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Yes, I'll check the injectors a little closer...the o-ring kits are the same for both appl's, so I'd say I'll be okay if the ohm rating is the same...

Progress has been slow, as I've had many other things come up on the weekends.

Right now, I have the oil pans off both engines, along with the front of each engine apart.

Had to remove the cam gears on the HYU so I could change out the back of the timing belt cover. The water pumps have to be changed, for sure, along with the back of the pump/plumbing. The oil pumps and pick-up tubes will be next, along with the front seal. Then, I'll button the front up and change the rear main seal, install the oil pan and flywheel/pressure plate. After that, it'll be the top end, which won't be too bad.

I've taken alot of pictures so far but won't post until I'm finished - that way I can document the whole thing in a more concise way.

Hopefully, I'll get lots of time this weekend and can get everything in the front and lower done. (I've also been messing around replacing a few things in the interior, etc, so that's taken a little of my time...)

Incidentally, so far I have made two tools - one for the crank pulley and one for the cam gears. They will allow me to torque things properly with the engine on the stand...

Thanks and I'll keep you updated...

If you pick out one of the photo hosting sites like photobucket, it will save timewhen itcomes to posting here. Also there will be less chance of a 3 week old pic of some detail that "you just can't remember why I took this picture" Just a thought, plus itmight help someone who needs a hand right now. Good luck by the way.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I apologize for not getting any pics up yet. It's not finished - with the holidays and a 14 month old little girl, my time is strained. I'll try to get some up over the holidays. Incidentally, I might start a new thread, to highlight the engine details - I'm thinking it might be a little cleaner...

Incidentally, not to hijack my own thread, but I have two questions.
1- Does anyone know of a make of timing belt that actually has marks on it for the 3.0? I ordered one (no marks), so then I went to O'reilly's to transfer marks, but there Gates had no marks either. Then, when busting both engines apart, no marks on either engine (Hyundai or Mitsu). What's the deal? I can do fine without marks, but I must admit that I find it strange that none of the belts that I've seen have any marks... What gives?
2- A question on the radio antenna (right front fender) - can one get to everything needed to change that out by removing the inner fender? I hate to remove the flare and inner fender only to find that I cannot get to everything needed.

Thanks for your help...

When I did the timing on my old 3.0L engine, the timing marks were on the pulleys and block.

Not sure about your 2nd question since I've never done it.

Never seen a belt with marks on it. THe 2.6 chain had plated links iirc.

No on the antenna, you have to get at the back of the radio to release the antenna cable, and at the outer side of the upper footwell sidewall to reinsert the antenna thru the grommet. You can do it just by taking loose the inner fender plastic stuff at the upper rear of the wheelwell, except for threading the antenna cable thru the jungle back to the radio. I use a wire snake and pull it out with the old wire and attach it to the new one to reinstall. Fair the cable to the snake with tape to avoid snagging...

Can you attach a line to the antenna before you pull it out then use said line to pull the new one back??

I think the belt from Napa may have them ?...Did my V6 and was "thinking" the belt I had had them on it ..Did not use them ..LOL..

I could be wrong ..Had my hands in a mess of motors this month so all the belts and motors are starting to blind in to one in my little brain ...

Mr Hazy can look or I will today at Napa ...One thing I do know the 3.0 is used in a lot of cars for a lot of years is why the belt may not be marked ..

Have a good day

The Gates belt has marks on it, but I don't think they're necessarily timing marks. I know the marks are there on the engine on my 3.0, had to look close though. Marked them with a silver Sharpie to make them easier to see. When putting the belt on, you kinda have to sneak up on the correct tooth to keep all the marks aligned...

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...
