Aww.. Nuther one bites the dust.. Hope that's not the problem I have. Burning a quart of oil for every tank of gas! It's probably the rings. Funniest thing is that it only smokes in the high rpms AND I did a compresion test with perfect numbers. I think mine are the rings. But I can't do anything about it till after tax return and I don't have enough time to do it even if I had the money. I don't want to do a complete tear down just before winter. I'll live till spring.

What did you do with the Sporty? If you can make it to Utah I have dying to build a lift for a Sorento , just kidding Homerdog's wife. Nice Truck, You should realy enjoy it. I would like a Sorento someday but When our Truck is paid off we are going to enjoy no car payments for a long while.

yeah, the payments are gonna suck, but it'll be nice to have something I'm not working on all the time. The cracks in the head aren't that bad. I'll post a pic if I can get a good one. I was thinking I might get it resurfaced anyway and put it together again and let my son have it and he can run it till it quits again. It was running fine before I took it apart (well fine considering) and I've already got a gasket set on the way and I have new head bolts out in the garage. The worst that could happen is it starts overheating again. In the meantime we might be able to fine a usable head somewhere. Should I use the new head bolts or just put the old ones back in?

If the new bolts are cheap enough ($30 a set or so), use them. As noted they are torque to yield and will not tolerate being reused. You will end up needing a new head gasket sooner rather than later due to them stretching. Maybe you could look at getting the head welded?

it was $85 for the set of em from Kia, ouch. here's a pic of the number 4 head, this one is the worst, 2 and 3 also have similar cracks. Looks like it's been there for a while, the other cracks don't have the carbon around them as much, they look pretty new. ![[Linked Image]](http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q98/h0merdog/DSCF7194.jpg)
