A while back I wrote about a guy that was posting over on the Trail Gear forum about a GM 3.7 (Atlas) inline five cyl swap. That engine fits better than an inline six and puts out 240hp. There is a good chance that it will bolt up to a Toyota R150F Tacoma transmission with a GM bellhousing. The engines are out of 2003 - present Hummer H3 and Chevy Colorado pickups. They have a pretty good record for endurance, they're cheap at the wrecking yard and they are fuel efficient.

I'm still stuck on the idea of 5VZFE TRD blown swap though. A Toyota inline six in a BMW 3 series is a great combo. If you'd like to work with a 7MGTE or 2JZ engine. -- Matt
